In artistic circles as well as in the world of equestrian shows, certain accessories become essentials; this is particularly the case for the Laboa waist bag, which has become inseparable from the painter Zomeka. Designed to adapt to any situation, this waist bag follows this ever-moving, unconventional creator. Versatile, resistant, and functional, it keeps proving its efficiency in diverse and sometimes demanding contexts.

Who is Zomeka, the painter who uses the Laboa waist bag every day?

Behind the name Zomeka is Mélanie Elzingre, a complete and committed artist whose two great passions — horse riding and painting — shape a unique path. From a very young age, she was drawn to both worlds: on one side, color palettes, and on the other, horses. In the 90s, her fluorescent canvases stood out at electronic music events; her first contact with alternative audiences gradually opened her up to graffiti, which she began exploring intensely from the 2000s onward.

When we say her journey is eclectic, we mean it — and we love it!

For Zomeka, over the years, artistic collective projects and travels set the rhythm of her life. In Peru, Mexico, or the French Alps, every experience became an opportunity to evolve, grow artistically, and take on stimulating new directions.

At the same time, horse riding has always been part of her life — always with her waist bag. After competing in show jumping up to the French Championships when she was younger, she now explores new disciplines, organizing events that bring them all together in a spirit of experimentation.

Now a stage manager, she supports other artists: creating videos, managing communication, caring for horses, preparing shows... Constantly driven by versatility, this ongoing immersion allows her to deepen her knowledge of dressage and build strong bonds with other creators.

This journey led her to found "UNIKA equestrian graffiti", a project at the crossroads of her two worlds. In her equestrian career, she installed a wall and began painting on horseback, creating a living, evolving performance that blends all the disciplines she masters to perfection. A sound project is also in progress, based on the noises made by horses and their environment, to immerse the audience in a unique atmosphere.

How does she use it in her work?

In her daily life, the Laboa waist bag never leaves her side, meeting her concrete need to keep her hands free while having the essentials at hand. After a long search for the perfect solution, she finally found it.

When working as a stage manager at equestrian shows, the pouch allows her to carry screws, tape, her phone, and other small tools essential for smooth coordination — action, reaction. When she paints, other essentials take their place in the pockets.

The colors, paint marks, and small scuffs on her waist bag tell the story of the many contexts in which she has used it. It carries the marks of a busy daily life: hikes, shows, workshops, and performances.
